Society is very quick to give us uniforms and put us into the boxes. Postman, doctor, waitress, police, pilot, etc. In certain cases it really does serve a role - it is indeed important to be able to recognise first responders, it is also convenient to be able to spot service staff in the crowd. And yet these uniforms become part of our identities and they quite often do carry certain set of expectations for the rest of your existence. Certainly our work lives do take big chunks of our time and in the best case scenario you chose something that matches your personality also outside of work. Being trained as a physician, I have experienced first hand how your work literally becomes your identity and starts orchestrating everything around you. But hopefully we are and should be allowed to be more than the uniform and the box that comes with it.
Yet in my own experience it doesn`t always come easy. You sort of should pick a box and stay there. If you are interested in more than one box quite often you won`t be truly accepted in any of them. This does have to do with the fact that we are expected to exceed in the things that we do. So, if it takes a lifetime to master a skill and you`re curious about many - you might be labeled as not serious enough, not committed enough and thus not included into the tribe.
But in the end, we - humans, are full of paradoxes. Also, it does take high level of creativity to be able to do science, just like it takes math skills to do art. So while the uniforms and boxes do provide efficiency and structure for the society, I invite you to see the world and yourself in it beyond that and allow yourself to be all the versions that spark up late at night or early in the morning. This is how The Other G was born. The Other version(s) of myself than expected by the simplified instructions.
And now you might ask, how come this journey started with a Planner? I was in love with the books since I can remember myself, then I chose studies that required reading a lot of them to be able to help people and on that road I was still curious about so many other things, such as languages, fashion, art, cars, chess and snowboarding. So you can see how at some point you need to start planning and coordinating all of this, otherwise nothing will come to fruition. And while on this journey I have collected a cemetery of half filled planners. I could never find the one that works for me. The ones that I came across were either or. Or too empty and with no structure or they gave you so much structure, you couldn`t breathe anymore. Therefore I decided to start an exploration to create my own. And it gave me the opportunity to combine so many things that I love - creativity, books, learning something completely new and hopefully helping people.
